A BILL

ENTITLED

An Ordinance further to amend the Merchant

Shipping Ordinance, 1899.

Be it enacted by the Governor of Hongkong, with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof, as follows:-

1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Merchant Ship- Short Title. ping (Amendment) Ordinance 1908 and shall be read and construed as one with the Merchant Shipping Ordinance 1899 (hereinafter called "The Principal Ordinance"), and this Ordinance and the said Ordinance and the Ordinances amending the same may be cited together as The Mer- chant Shipping Ordinances 1899-1905”.

2. Section 2 of the Principal Ordinance is hereby Definitions. amended as follows:--

In the definition of the word "Seaman" the words "aud apprentices duly indentured and regis- tered" shall be omitted and the word "and" inserted between the word "masters" and the word " pilots".

After the definition of "Steamship" the following shall be inserted :-" Motor Bout" moans a vessel not exceeding sixty tous propelled by any mechanical power however applied except

steam oars or sails.
